The court and the story concerns the marriage between the nobility of pre-industrial England, focusing on the pursuit of love against the pursuit of financial security and social status. The Oscar-nominated version was produced by Working Title Films, directed by Joe Wright and based on a scenario of Deborah Moggach. He was released September 16, 2005 in the United Kingdom and November 11, 2005 in the United States. It was filmed entirely on place across the UK in summer 2004 and used several homes, including Chatsworth House in Derbyshire and Wilton House in Salisbury (as Pemberley), Groombridge Place in Kent (as Longbourn), Basildon Park in Berkshire (as Netherfield Park) and Burghley House in Lincolnshire (as Rosings – the neighboring town of Stamford served Meryton).
