Piano Lessons For Beginners – 3 Fun Piano Exercises to Play
Piano Lessons for Beginners is all about enjoying making music and creating a beautiful sound. Playing the piano is most people’s dream, but they do not want to have to practice! If you make piano practice fun – it will never feel like a chore! Here are 3 Fun Piano Exercises to Play.
#1 – Note Finding.
C is the white key to the left of the 2 black keys. Play every C on the piano, starting at the bottom of the piano. What do you notice about the sound? Which is the high end of the piano? Which is the low end?
Now hold down the right pedal with your foot and play every C. What do you notice about the sound? Try this with other notes. Say the name of the note as you play it.
#2 – 5 Finger Exercise “Rise and Fall”
Place your Right Hand on any 5 adjacent white keys. Start with the thumb and play each finger in turn legato (smooth and joined), by exchanging one finger for another.
Once you have mastered this, gradually speed up. Try to keep the rhythm even. How fast can you go? Repeat this 5 Finger Exercise with your Left Hand. This time the notes will “Fall and Rise.”
#3 – 5 Finger Exercise “Rock to the Thumb”
The fingers are numbered 1 to 5, the thumb being number 1.
Play this finger pattern in your Right Hand:
1 2 1 2 1 2 1, 1 3 1 3 1 3 1, 1 4 1 4 1 4 1, 1 5 1 5 1 5 1
Play legato and with an even rhythm. Once you have mastered this, gradually speed up. How fast can you go? Repeat this 5 Finger Exercise with your Left Hand.
